In today’s Designer Diaries, we take a look at some of the most commonly asked questions we receive from couples when it comes to planning weddings, corporate events, or other event production.

Are my Pinterest dreams a reality?

We’re never one to burst anyone’s bubble – but we will always be realistic and provide as many options as possible to align your dream with your budget. In short, we find that 9 out of 10 times your budget and your dream might not be aligned (at first!) because the average person doesn’t necessarily know the cost of fresh flowers, the labor to assemble flower arrangements, the talent of a floral designer, and all of the other event production components that need to be considered. In no way do we want to discourage you from designing and creating a vision board filled with every detail of your perfect day, we just want you to know we’ll go through everything in detail to ensure your top priorities are met within your budget. There are many ways to bring your dream design to life!

What will my wedding cost?

We find that many couples will share their Pinterest board and then ask us what it would cost. We totally get it – planning a wedding is filled with a ton of moving parts and budget is at the forefront of every decision. Unfortunately, our wedding and event design team are unable to simply rattle off an estimate without taking a lot of factors into consideration (and trust us, you don’t want a number just thrown out immediately because that can lead to surprise costs later on. We’re all about surprises – but definitely not those kinds!). Some of the things we need to measure are: where in the world/hemisphere will the fresh flowers be grown and subsequently flown in from? What is the weather like in each of those climates? Was there an unusually hot or cold season that changed the availability or quality of the blooms? Maybe we have three other weddings that weekend where we can combine resources to get you a better rental on an item, or a better cost on wedding flowers so we can buy in bulk? The list goes on! It is up to us to take your vision and put it into a cohesive wedding florist plan that’s priced accordingly to meet your budget. We will do our due diligence to provide you with detailed pricing and options to achieve your dream wedding within your budget but please note, a responsible budget reference can only be provided after the initial consultation.

How much should I budget for wedding flowers?

Ah, the age-old question when it comes to wedding flowers (right up there next to ‘where do I begin?’) Here’s the deal: there are numerous websites and algorithms suggesting an average percentage you should spend on wedding flowers. Now here’s the reality: every wedding is different. Every couple is different – which includes their priorities, budget and preferences. That’s why you have us! We will sit and go through all the details of your dream wedding and give you a realistic breakdown of costs. You may find that fresh flowers, while beautiful, might not be that big of a priority as you first thought, and you can have a floral centerpiece made up of greens, and restructure your budget to include a full open bar, rather than wine and beer. Alternatively, you may find after a design consultation that you want florals to take center stage and switch out a loose wildflower style handheld for a lush wedding bouquet of peonies. Regardless of the route you decide to take, we’ll help guide you every step of the way to ensure it’s perfect.
